Last Updated 03/22/2008

Step 1 ~ Boot up computer by either rebooting the computer with the reset button or by powering the computer on with the power button on the front of the case.
Step 2 ~ The computer will prompt you to where you want to boot from, because we are going to Image this computer, we are going to want to type 'img'. If we type 'hd' or wait for a few seconds, it will boot from the hard drive.
Step 3 ~ The computer will then display a login script as seen to the left. For standard imaging, no changes are necessary to this screen. You may either wait for the time to elapse or press . For students who save and restore their own images, please see the instructions for student save and restore.
Step 4 ~ The computer will prompt you to enter which lab you are in. Simply answer with the number that corresponds to the lab you are working in.

Step 5 ~ Symantec Ghost will now start. It will display a welcome message (Press "OK"). A menu will then appear that will allow you to navigate to the image you wish to load.

To Image a computer, select the following options.
"Local" -> "Disk" -> "From Image".

Step 6 ~ A box will then display the I: drive (the default images) for you to select the image you want. The folders displayed are:
  1. Beta (these are images that we are working on or testing. Students use these images at their own risk as they are not supported in the labs).
  2. Old (Images we have removed from active support).
  3. "Lab Name" the standard images supported for that lab.

Select the lab folder and then select the appropriate image displayed in the list. At all the remaining screen prompts, leave it at defaults. The image will then begin downloading to your machine.
